Somdev Kishore Devvarman

Somdev Devvarman, born on February 13, 1985, in Guwahati, India, is a former tennis star known for his contributions to Indian tennis. He made a mark by winning the NCAA singles championship twice during his college days in the United States. Representing India in Davis Cup and the Olympics, Devvarman showcased his skill and determination on the court. With a top singles ranking of 62 in the ATP, he earned respect for his strong baseline game. After retiring from professional tennis, Somdev has been actively involved in sports administration, focusing on developing tennis talent in India, making a positive impact on the country's tennis scene.

• Won the F2 Championship in 2004, held in Kolkata
• Won at the 2007 NCAA Singles Championship, held in Athens
• Registered a 44–1 win-loss record at the 2008 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship which is unprecedented
• Bagged a gold medal at Commonwealth Games of 2010 and Asian Games in Doubles as well as Singles, held in Delhi and Guangzhou respectively
• Also secured a bronze medal in a team event at the 2010 Asian Games in the team, held in Guangzhou
• Honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2011
• Dominated the Delhi Open singles at the 2014 ONGC–GAIL, held in India
• Defended his Delhi Open singles title against Yuki Bhambri in 2015
• The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports appointed Devvarman as the national observer for Tennis in 2017. 
• In 2018, he was honoured with the civilian award Padma Shri.
