Sumit Nagal

Sumit Nagal is a professional tennis player from India who has won two singles titles on the ATP Challenger Tour, as well as nine singles and two doubles titles on the ITF Futures. Nagal is currently ranked World No. 144 in singles (as of June 2021) by the FedEx ATP rankings and is currently the highest-ranked Indian singles tennis player and since 2018, he has been a regular member of India's national Davis Cup squad. Nagal reached his career-high singles top ranking of world No. 122 on 24 August 2020. 

Here are some of his career major achievements

• Bagged the 2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles title with his Vietnamese partner Lý Hoàng Nam and became the sixth Indian player to win a junior Grand Slam title.
• Made his Davis Cup debut in the 2016 World Group Playoff tie against Spain in New Delhi.
• Nagal thrashed the top seed Blaz Kavcic in the quarter-finals, Yuki Bhambri in the semifinals and Jay Clarke in the 2017 Bengaluru Challenger finals to clinch his first ATP Challenger singles title.
• Won a gold medal in the Men's Singles event at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games
• He ended his 2018 Junior Asian Games campaign with the runner-up position and his Indian partner Amandeep Singh and Raj Kumar.
• Made his Grand Slam debut at the 2019 US Open where he faced Roger Federer in his opening round but lost the game
• Reached his 2nd career ATP challenger final at the 2019 Banja Luka Challenger but lost to Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor.
• Clinched his second challenger title and the first one on Clay at the 2019 Buenos Aires Challenger where he upset the local player Facundo Bagnis.
• Became the 1st Indian since Somdev Devvarman (2013 US Open) to win a match in the main draw of a Grand Slam after defeating Bradley Klahn in the opening round match at the 2020 US Open.
