Pusarla Venkata Sindhu

Born on 5th July 1995, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is a professional badminton player from India. She is regarded as one of the greatest players who has represented India at the Olympic Games as well as many international events including the BWF World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Uber Cup.

Major Achievements:-

• Sindhu won the Grand Prix Gold title in 2013 at the Malaysian Open.
• On 1st December 2013, she won the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold.
• In 2013, P.V. Sindhu was honoured with the Arjuna Award by the Government of India.
• Honoured with the FICCI Breakthrough Sportsperson of the Year in 2014
• In March 2015, Sindhu became the youngest Indian to be honoured with the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India.
• Bestowed with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, the highest sporting honour of India in 2016.
• Clinched a gold and a silver medal in the women’s team and women’s singles category at the 2016 South Asian Games.
• Sindhu became the first Indian woman to win a silver medal by giving a prolific performance in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
• Bagged a silver medal in women's singles at the IBF World Championships of 2017.
• Based on the prize money and endorsements between June 2017 and June 2018, Sindhu was enlisted on the seventh rank in Highest-Paid Female Athletes 2018 list of Forbes magazine.
• Bagged a silver medal in the women’s singles category at the 2018 World Championships.
• Clinched a silver medal at the Asian Games 2018 in women's singles badminton event and became the first Indian badminton player to do so. In December, Sindhu made a historical performance to win the BWF World Tour Finals tournament, becoming the first Indian player to do so. 
• At the Commonwealth Games of 2018, Sindhu bagged a gold and a silver medal in a mixed team and women's singles events, respectively. The same year, she succeeded to be amongst the top 4 players at the All England Open Championship before losing to Japanese badminton player Akane Yamaguchi.
• Earned a gold medal in women’s singles category at the 2019 World Championships.
• Honoured with the Padma Bhushan award, the third-highest civilian award in 2020.
