Nisha Millet

Nisha Millet, born on March 20, 1982, in Bangalore, India, is a renowned swimmer. She started swimming at a young age and quickly rose to prominence in Indian sports. Millet represented India in international competitions, including the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. She won several medals, showcasing her talent and dedication. After retiring from competitive swimming, Millet turned to coaching, aiming to inspire the next generation of swimmers. She founded the Nisha Millet Swimming Academy in Bangalore, providing training and guidance to aspiring athletes. Millet's contributions to Indian swimming have left a lasting impact, inspiring many to pursue their passion for the sport.

Her Achievements:-

• Won her first state level medal in 50 m freestyle, in 1992, held in Chennai
• Won her first international medal at the 1994 Asian Age Group Championships held in Hong Kong
• Received the Prime Minister’s Award for Best Sportswoman of the National Games in 1997 and 1999
• Holds the record for having the highest number of Gold medals (14) at the 1999 Indian National Games, held in Manipur
• Received the Arjuna Award in 2000
• Bestowed with the Rajyotsava Award in 2001
• Conferred with the Ekalavya Award in the year 2002
• Won a silver medal at the 2003 Afro-Asian Games, held in Hyderabad
• Holds the distinctive record of being the first Indian swimmer who have broken the 1-minute barrier in 100 m freestyle swimming
