Manpreet Singh Pawar

Born on 26th June 1992 in Jalandhar, Punjab; Manpreet Singh Pawar is an Indian professional field hockey player who became the captain of India men's national field hockey team in 2017 and is aiding the team by playing at the halfback position. Manpreet started playing field hockey at the age of 10 and began his professional career as a national player at the age of 19.

Achievements:

• Represented the nation in the Summer Olympics of 2012.
• Captained the Junior National Hockey team at the Men's Hockey Junior World Cup of 2013. The same year, the national squad bagged a gold medal at the Sultan of Johor Cup against Malaysia by 3-0 under his captaincy.
• Entitled as the Junior Player of the Year by the Asian Hockey Federation in 2014 and also aided the national team to win over Pakistan with a score of 4-2 at the Asian Games of the year.
• The same year, he bagged a silver medal along with his team at the Commonwealth Games, held in Glasgow.
• Gave his crucial efforts to lead the national team to the final of Men's Hockey Champions Trophy of 2016 after 38 years and won a silver medal.
• Named in the Indian squad to compete at the Summer Olympics of 2016.
• Part of the team that won a gold medal in 2017 and a silver medal at the 2013 Asia Cup, held in Dhaka and Ipoh respectively.
• Won the bronze medal along with his team at the 2018 Asian Games
• Bestowed with the FIH Men's Player of the Year in 2019.
