Deepika Thakur

Born on 7th February 1987 in Haryana; Deepika Thakur is an Indian field hockey player who plays in the national squad as a defender and is currently the highest capped players of the team. She has represented the nation in more than 200 outings.

Here are some of her career achievements:-

• Bestowed with the GM Railways Award in 2008.
• Honoured as the Defender of the Year by Hockey India in 2014.
• Honoured with the Dhruv Batra Player of the Year award in 2015 in hockey.
• Deepika was the vice-captain of the national squad that qualified for the Rio Olympics and represented the nation in the Olympics after 36 years.
• Aided the Indian national team in winning its maiden title at the Asian Champions Trophy in 2016 and was also entitled as the "highest scorer of the tournament".
• Showed  phenomenal skills at the South Asian Games of 2016  and bagged a gold medal for the nation.
• Honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2020.
