Deepika Kumari

Deepika Kumari, born on June 13, 1994, in Ranchi, India, is a trailblazing figure in the world of archery. Hailing from a modest background, she overcame adversity to become one of India's most celebrated athletes. Kumari's journey to excellence began when she picked up a bow at the age of 12. Her innate talent and relentless dedication propelled her to the global stage, where she secured numerous medals, including gold at the Commonwealth Games and multiple World Cup titles. • Deepika is another Indian behind Palton Hansda to conquest in the Archery World Cup competition held in 2006.
• She won a gold medal for India at the Commonwealth Games in the year 2010 in the Women’s Individual Recurve event.
• She qualified for the Summer Olympics 2012 which was held in London. There, she contended in Women’s team events and reserved 8th position for herself.
• The President of India in 2012, Pranab Mukherjee, honoured Deepika by endowing her Arjuna Award.
• FICCI exalted her by selecting her as the "Sportsperson of the Year" in 2014.
• For her excellent performance in the world of archery, Deepika was awarded the fourth highest civilian award of India "Padma Shri” 2016.
