Amit Panghal

Born on 16th October 1995 in Haryana, Amit Panghal is an Indian amateur boxer from Rohtak who serves Indian Army as a junior commissioned officer. Amit belongs to a small village Mayna and encouraged by his elder brother to go for boxing.

His Achievements:-

• Amit bagged a gold medal in his debut performance at the national championships, held in 2017.
• The same year in May, Amit earned a bronze medal at the Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in the light flyweight category that held in Tashkent. Besides this, he also qualified for the AIBA World Boxing Championships of the year and reached the quarterfinal.   
• Claimed a gold medal in light flyweight category at the 2018 Asian Games. The same year, he got selected for the Commonwealth Games where he clinched a silver medal in the light flyweight category.
• In 2019, Panghal successfully defended Strandzha Cup by winning consecutive gold medals in 2018 and 2019
• Bagged a gold medal after defeating Korean boxer Kim In-kyu at the 2019 Asian Boxing Championship
• The same year, Amit became the first Indian boxer to clinch silver medal at the 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships
• Qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after beating Philippines' Carlo Paalam in 52kg quarterfinal in March 2020
