"Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Games" is the lifetime sporting award of India, named after the legendary field hockey player 'Major Dhyan Chand'. The honor was instituted in 2002 and carries a statuette, a certificate, formal dress, and a cash prize which is presented annually to the sportspersons for their best contribution in sports and persistent efforts even after retirement. The award is given only in disciplines included in International level competitions such as Olympic Games, Asian Games, Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, World Cup, and World Championship along with Cricket, Indigenous Games, and Para-sports.
