Tejaswini Sawant

Born on 12th September 1980, Tejaswini Sawant is a professional Indian Shooter who predominantly participates in 50 m rifle category. She started practising her sport under the guidance of Jaisingh Kusale and has won numerous accolades at both national and international stages in rifle shooting.   

Here are some of her major achievements:-

• 2004- Tejaswini won a gold medal at the South Asian Sports Federation Games, convened in Islamabad.
• 2006- Tejaswini Sawant won a gold medal in 10m air rifle pairs and 10m air rifle category at the Commonwealth Games which were held in Melbourne.
• 2010- She became the first Indian female shooter to win a gold medal at the World Championships, held in Munich. Sawant also bagged two silver medals and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in 50m rifle categories.
• 2011- Received the prestigious Arjuna Award by the Government of India for her astounding performances in shooting
• 2018- Bagged a gold and a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games of 2018, in 50 m rifle 3 positions and 50 m rifle prone events
