Born on 10th May 1974, Suma Shirur is a former Indian shooter who belongs to Karnataka, India. She is a founder of “Lakshya Shooting Club”, an organization that encourages and trains the budding shooters of India.

- Earned three silver medals at the Maharashtra State Championship, held in 1993
- Became the National Junior Champion following laudable victory at the 1994 Junior National Championships, held in Chennai
- Gold medal at the 1997 National Games, held in Bangalore
- Silver medal at the 2002 Asian Games, held in Busan
- Bronze medal at the 2006 Asian Games, held in Doha
- Bagged a gold medal and a silver medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, held in Manchester
- Bronze medal in 10m Air rifle pairs event at the Commonwealth Games of 2010, held in Delhi
- Bagged a gold medal at the 2004 Asian Athletics Championship creating a joint world record by scoring the maximum of 400 points in the qualification state
