Born on 23rd June 1992, in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Sathish Sivalingam is a well-known Indian weightlifter. His father was a national level weightlifter. Therefore, he started training under the tutelage of his father at his hometown. He serves in Southern Railways as a clerk.
His achievements:-
- Bagged a gold medal in the 77kg category at the Commonwealth Games of 2014, held in Glasgow. He made a new record in the event by lifting 149 kg in the snatch.
- Finished 11th at the qualifier event of men’s 77 kg category, Rio Olympics 2016 in the field of 14 lifters
- At the Commonwealth Games of 2018, Sathish bagged a gold medal in 77 kg category, lifting 144 kg in snatch and 173 kg in clean and jerk.
