Sania Mirza

Born on 15th November 1986, Sania Mirza is one of the most prolific tennis stars of India who have led the sport to all new heights. She is one of the most successful Indian athletes as well as the highest ranked female tennis player.

A brief account of his encompassments is given here:-

• 2002- Sania earned a bronze medal in Doubles Events with Leander Paes.
• 2003- Sania won her first Wimbledon Championship in doubles with her partner Alisa Kleybanova and also gained four gold medals through her prolific performance at the Afro-Asian Games.
• 2004- After winning the first WTA Doubles title with partner Liezel Huber; she received the prestigious "Arjuna Award" by the Government of India.
• 2005-The American news magazine "Time" named her amongst the "50 Heroes of Asia". She gave notable performances in the Grand Slam singles tournaments with her powerful groundstrokes.
• 2006- Sania received the fourth highest civilian award "Padma Shri" by the Government of India.
• 2014- Sania was appointed as the Brand Ambassador of Telangana state.
• 2015- She was honored with the “Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award” after winning a total of 10 WTA titles with 2 Grand Slams.
• 2016- Sania's name was inducted into the list of 100 most influential people in the world by "Time" magazine. She also received the third highest civilian award "Padma Bhushan".
