Rebecca Soni

Born on 18th March 1987, in New Jersey, Rebecca Soni is a former competitive swimmer from the United States who specializes in breaststroke technique and is a six-time Olympic gold medalist. She is the first woman to swim the 200-m breaststroke in 2 minutes 20 seconds.

Here are some of her career achievements:

• The current world record holder in the 400x100m medley relay. The record was created at the Summer Olympics of 2012 with the timing of 3:52.05 seconds  
• Secured two gold medals and a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics each in the 200m breaststroke, 4x100 m medley and 100m breaststroke
• Has won four gold medals, a silver medal, and a bronze medal at the World Championships (LC), held in 2009 and 2011
• Clinched three gold and a silver medal at the 2010 Dubai World Championships (SC)
• Secured three gold at the 2010 Irvine Pan Pacific Championships
• Named as the World Swimmer of the year in 2010 and 2011 by the Swimming World
• Winner of gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in 200m breaststroke
• Won two silver medals each in the 100m breaststroke and 4x100m medley at the 2008 Beijing Olympics
• Also named as the American Swimmer of the Year in 2009, 2010 and 2011
• Former world record holder in the 100m breaststroke. The record was created at the 100m breaststroke event of the World Aquatics Championship of 2009 with the timing of 1:04.84 seconds
• Won gold and two silver medals at the 2005 Universiade held in Izmir
