Rajinder Singh Rahelu

Rajinder Singh Rahelu is an Indian Paralympic powerlifter born on July 22, 1973, at Mehsampur village, Jalandhar district, Punjab. Rahelu, who is suffering from Infantile paralysis and polio that he contracted at the age of 8, never gave upon his dreams and is now making the nation proud on him.

Here is a glimpse of his achievements:-

• Rajinder won the National Powerlifting Championship held in Hyderabad in August 1998.
• He bagged a gold medal at the 2002 "Asian Bench-Press Championship" held in Delhi.
• He earned the first ever medal for India in the powerlifting event of the Paralympics in 2004.
• In 2006, Rajinder was honored with the Arjuna Award for his sincere efforts and firm dedication towards sports.
• Rajinder earned a silver medal at the 2007 IWAS (International Wheel Chair and Amputee Sports) World Games held in Taipei.
• At the Commonwealth Games of 2014, he secured a silver medal.
