Preeja Sreedharan

Preeja Sreedharan is an accomplished Indian long-distance runner, born on March 13, 1982, in Kerala. Rising from humble beginnings, she discovered her passion for running during her school days. Her journey to prominence began when she won the gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games, breaking the 19-year-old Indian national record for the 10,000 meters. Preeja's determination and dedication propelled her to further success, including gold medals in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and multiple victories at the National Games of India. She remains an inspiration for aspiring athletes, showcasing the power of perseverance and hard work in achieving one's dreams.

• Won silver medals at the 2007 Asian Athletics Championship in both the 5000 and 10,000 meters event, held in Amman
• Bagged a gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games, held in Guangzhou in the 10,000 meters event
• Also, received a silver medal in 5000 meters event at the 2010 Asian Games, held in Guangzhou
• Honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Award for Athletics in 2011
• Participated in the Delhi Half Marathon in 2014 and stood out as the winner amongst the women athletes of India who have participated in the race.
