Pranaav Jerry Chopra

Born on 6^th September 1992 in Ludhiana, Pranaav Jerry Chopra is an Indian badminton prodigy who started training at the mere age of 7. He won the national title twice in boys’ doubles U-13 and U-19 events. He joined the national badminton team of India in 2007 and trained under the guidance of Pullela Gopichand in the Gopichand Badminton Academy. During his U-19 level, he has bagged a record nine titles within a year.

A glimpse of some of his career achievements:-

• Earned a bronze medal in boys’ doubles event at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG).
• Won a bronze medal at the 2009 Badminton Asia Junior Championship in the mixed doubles event.
• Winner of the Iran Fajr International 2010 in the men’s doubles category with B. Sai Praneeth.
• Won the gold medal at 2011 Tata Open India International along with his partner Akshay Dewalkar.
• Bagged the title of Bangladesh International 2015 in the men’s doubles event.
• Won a bronze medal at the 2016 Badminton Asia Team Championship in the men’s team event.
• Clinched two gold medals and a silver medal at the 2016 South Asian Games in mixed doubles, men’s team and men’s doubles events, respectively.
• Emerged victorious along with his partner N. Sikki Reddy at the 2017 Syed Modi International Badminton Championship, 2016 Russian Open and 2016 Brasil Open.
• Bagged a gold medal in the mixed team event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, held in Gold Coast.
