Born on 1st January 1994 in Hisar district of Haryana, Pooja Dhanda is an Indian wrestler who bagged a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games of 2018 in 57 kg category. Pooja was initially a judo practitioner, but after realising her real skills, she switched to wrestling and debuted her wrestling career by participating at the national championship of 2013. Pooja was initially screened for the blockbuster movie "Dangal" as Babita Kumari which she couldn't play due to an injury.
Achievements-
- Pooja powered the team Punjab Royals in the Pro Wrestling League in January 2018 by defeating Olympic champion Helen Maroulis.
- Earned a bronze medal in 57kg category at the 2018 World Wrestling Championships
- Bagged a silver medal in 57kg category at the 2018 Commonwealth Games
- Earned a bronze medal in 58 kg category of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017
- Clinched a bronze medal in 58kg category at the 2014 Asian Wrestling Championships
- At the Youth Olympic Games of 2010, Pooja earned a silver medal in the girls' freestyle 60 kg event.
