Leander Adrian Paes

Born 17^th June 1973, Leander Adrian Paes is an Indian professional tennis player who is considered to be one of the best mixed-doubles and doubles players of all time. He has achieved a career Grand Slam in each discipline of tennis.

His achievements are as follows:-

• He holds the title of career Grand Slam in men's doubles as well as in mixed doubles.
• For his sincere efforts in his sports, he received the honor of Arjuna Award in 1999.
• In 1996, he was awarded India’s highest sporting honor “Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna" award.
• Paes won a bronze medal for India in singles in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
• In January 2014, Leander Paes was awarded Padma Bhushan for his spectacular performances in national as well as international tennis events.
• He holds the record for being the first Indian to compete in seven Olympic Games.
• Besides Nicola Pietrangeli, he holds the record for most Davis Cup wins with 42 victories.
• He is the recent sports ambassador of Indian state Haryana.
• By competing in several tennis events held in between 1992-2016, he became the only player to participate in seven Olympic events.
