Kieron Adrian Pollard

An aggressive all-rounder, Kieron Pollard is a Trinidadian cricketer playing for the West Indies cricket team in limited-overs formats and the current captain of the teams as well (as of April 2021).

Pollard is a right-arm medium-pace bowler and a middle-order batsman who is well-known for his all-round performances. He made his senior career debut on 25^th July 2006 for Trinidad & Tobago in a T20 match against the Cayman Islands team. He made his first-class and List A debut in January 2007 against Barbados. Pollard’s international debut came in an ICC World Cup match against South Africa on 10^th April 2007, and his T20I debut came on 20 June 2008 during the Australia tour of West Indies.

Pollard is a brilliant player in limited-overs, although he has never played Test Cricket. He has been a part of several franchise cricket teams, including Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Dhaka Platoon in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, Deccan Gladiators in Abu Dhabi T10 League, Welsh Fire in The Hundred and others.

Here are some of his major career achievements:

• Wisden honoured him with the title of Leading T20 Cricketer in the World in 2020 in the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack 2021.
• In March 2021, in a T20I match against Sri Lanka, Pollard became the third batsman to hit 6 sixes in an over in international cricket after Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh.
• Pollard became the first cricketer to feature in 500 matches and the second batsman to score 10000+ runs after Chris Gayle in the T20 format in March 2020.
• During the West Indies tour of India 2019/20, he became the fourth cricketer from West Indies to score 1000 T20I runs.
• For his outstanding performance at the 2011-12 Caribbean Twenty20 tournament, Pollard became the Player of the Series.
• At the 2011 CWI / WIPA Awards, he was honoured with the ODI Player of the Year title.
• He won the Best Debut Performance award in the 2010 Indian Premier League.
• Proved instrumental in the victory and won Man of the Match award for Trinidad & Tobago in a match against New South Wales in the 2009 Champions League T20
