Jwala Gutta

Jwala Gutta is one of the most thriving badminton players of India, who have dominated the Doubles category. She is a left-handed badminton player who has prevailed over the National Badminton Championship fourteen times. With her aggressive playing style and unique court techniques, she has added many feathers to her cap.

A brief account of her major encompassments is listed here:-

• 2006- She bagged three gold medals at the South Asian Games in the women's doubles, mixed doubles and women's team event. The same year, she also claimed a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.
• 2010- Jwala clinched a gold medal in the women's doubles and a silver in the mixed team event at the Commonwealth Games.
• 2011- The Government of India honoured Jwala by presenting the Arjuna Award for her sincere efforts in the sport after crediting a bronze medal in the World Championship with Ashwini being the first pair to gain a medal in the competition.
• 2012- She dynamically performed in Women's Doubles as well as in Mixed Doubles at the London Olympics, being the first Indian who qualified for two events in the Olympic sport.
• 2014- She along with her doubles partner Ashwini bagged a silver medal by performing at the Commonwealth Games. The pair also gained bronze at the Asian Championship and contributed their best efforts to the Indian team in winning a bronze medal in the Uber Cup Championship.
• 2015- Jwala together with Ashwini Ponappa, reached the 10th position in the BWF World Ranking of top twenty pairs.
• 2016- Jwala dominated the South Asian Games by winning gold medals in Women's Doubles and a team event. She also gave her vital participation to her team in securing a bronze medal in the World Team Championship for women and a bronze in the women's team event at the Uber Cup.
