Geetika Jakhar

Geetika Jakhar is a prominent Indian Wrestler who was born on 18^th August 1985 in Haryana. She is the first female wrestler to be awarded the Arjuna Award by the Government of India in 2006. She is the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Haryana.

Here are some of her achievements:-

• She won the gold medals in 2003 and 2005 Commonwealth Championship and a silver medal in 2007.
• Same year, she received the “Bheem Award” for her outstanding performance in national sports.
• In 2005, Geetika became the first Indian woman to be honoured as the Best Wrestler of Commonwealth Games.
• She was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2006 for giving prolific performances in her sport.
• Clinched a silver medal in the 2006 Asian Games and a bronze medal in the 2014 Asian Games.
• Bagged the gold medals at the 2007 National Games and 2007 Senior National Championship.
• In 2009, she received the Kalpana Chawla Excellence Award for Outstanding Women.
• In 2011, she became the youngest wrestler to win a gold medal in National Championship.
• Geetika bagged silver medal by giving an astounding performance in Commonwealth Games of 2014 in 63 Kg category.
• In 2019, she won a silver medal in the 69 kg category at the World Police and Fire Games.
