Taufik Hidayat

Born on 10th August 1981 in West Java, Taufik Hidayat is a former badminton player from Indonesia who has won the Indonesian Open six times in between 1999-2006 (except 2005). He is much-publicised for his smooth footwork, drop shots, deceiving net play and forehand jump smash that made him capable to dominate the opponent on the court.

His Achievements:

• Gold medal at the Olympic Games of 2004, held in Athens.
• Gold and silver medal at the World Championships of 2005 and 2010 held in Anaheim and Paris, respectively.
• Three gold medals earned at the Asian Championships of 2000, 2004 and 2007, held in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, respectively.
• Three gold medals earned at the Asian Games of 1998, 2002 and 2006, held in Doha, Busan and Bangkok, respectively.
• Gold medals earned at the Southeast Asian Games of 1999 and 2007, held in Brunei and Thailand.
• Two gold and a silver medal earned at the Thomas Cup competition of the year 2000, 2002 and 2010, respectively.
