Rishabh Rajendra Pant

Famously known as Spider-Pant, Rishabh Pant is a professional cricketer from India who plays as a wicket-keeper batsman for the Indian national team, Delhi cricket team and Delhi Capitals in the IPL. During his early teens, he has gone through many highs and lows and moved from city to city to make a name for himself in the cricketing world. His hardships proved worth it, and he came into the limelight in the 2016 U-19 Cricket World Cup.

In February 2016, Pant was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a whopping INR 1.9 crores from a base price of INR 10 lakhs. He made his T20I debut on February 1, 2017 against England, Test debut on August 18, 2018 against England and ODI debut on October 21, 2018 against West Indies.

Here are some of his major career achievements:

• On 1^st February 2016, at the U-19 World Cup, Pant scored an 18-ball fifty, which is the fastest half-century at this level.
• He was the third-youngest Indian batsman to score a triple hundred in first-class cricket after scoring 308 runs against Maharashtra in the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season.
• He scored a blistering 48-ball century in the Ranji Trophy on 8^th November 2016 in a match against Jharkhand and broke the record for the fastest century of the tournament.
• In September 2018, he became the first Indian wicket-keeper and the second-youngest wicket-keeper to hit a Test hundred in England.
• At the 2018 ICC Awards, he was named the Emerging Player of the Year.
• In January 2019, he became the first Indian wicket-keeper to score a ton in a Test in Australia, during the fourth Test against Australia.
• In the month of January 2021, Pant notched up 1000 Test runs to become the fastest Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to reach the landmark, breaking MS Dhoni’s record of 32 innings.
• He was honoured as ICC Men’s Player of the Month for the inaugural month - January 2021, beating Joe Root and Paul Stirling in the voting.
• In March 2021, at the age of 23, he has been selected as the captain of Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2021, becoming the fifth-youngest captain in the history of IPL.
