Mayank Anurag Agarwal

Born on 16^th February 1991 in Bangalore, Mayank Agarwal is a prolific opening batsman who plays for the Indian cricket team. He also plays for the Karnataka cricket team in domestic cricket competitions and Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mayank used to play cricket from his school days in Bangalore but came to prominence in the 2008-09 Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy, where he scored 432 runs in 5 matches. He made his first-class cricket debut against Jharkhand in November 2013, but his international debut in a Test match against Australia in December 2018 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and ODI debut against New Zealand in February 2020.

Here are some of his major career achievements:

• In December 2020, in a Test match against Australia, Mayank completed his 1000 Test runs, becoming the third quickest batsman of India to reach 1000 runs in Test format.
• In November 2019, after scoring a double ton against Bangladesh in a Test match, Mayank became the second-fastest batsman to score two double tons, achieving the feat in 12 innings, breaking the record of legendary Donald Bradman.
• In the Freedom Trophy 2019, Mayank scored his maiden century in Test cricket in the first Test against South Africa and converted it into a double ton. Eventually, he became the second Indian opener after Sehwag to score back-to-back tons against South Africa.   
• During his Test debut for India in 2018, Mayank scored 76 runs in an innings, the highest by an Indian cricketer on his Test debut in Australia, breaking the record of Dattu Phadkar (51 runs) in 1947.
• In the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy, Mayank finished as the leading run-getter of the tournament with 1160 runs in 8 matches with an average of 105.45 and awarded the Madhavrao Scindia Award by the BCCI.
• He scored 723 runs in 8 matches with an average of 90.37 in the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy and finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer.
• In the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2010, Mayank was the leading run-scorer for India with 167 runs in 6 matches.
• He was proclaimed as Man of the series in the 2010 Karnataka Premier League (KPL) for his 62-ball century against Belagavi Panthers.
