Leroy Russel Burrell

Leroy Burrell, born on February 21, 1967, in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, is a retired American sprinter and track coach. Known for his incredible speed, Burrell set the world record in the 100 meters at 9.90 seconds in 1991. He played a key role in the 4x100 meters relay team, winning gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics alongside Carl Lewis. After his athletic career, Leroy Burrell shifted to coaching, notably with the University of Houston. His impact on sprinting and coaching has made him a respected figure in track and field, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of athletics.
