Iga Świątek is a professional tennis player from Poland who has won one Grand Slam singles title, as well as seven singles titles on the ITF Circuit. Born to former Olympic rower Tomasz Świątek and an orthodontist Dorota, Iga pursued tennis because she wanted to beat her elder sister Agata in the sport. She is a versatile player who has an aggressive, all-court style of play. She has a powerful and fast backhand and forehand and possesses impressive volleying skills because of her experience in doubles.
In 2014 and 2015, for 14-and-under girls, she represented her nation at the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals. In 2019, she made her debut at the WTA Tour. Iga is the first Polish player in the history of tennis to win a Grand Slam singles title. She is currently ranked World No.16 in singles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and is the highest-ranked teenage tennis player in the women’s singles category (as of April 2021).
