Avtar Singh

Avtar Singh, born on 03 Apr, 1992, in Gurdaspur, Punjab, India, is a distinguished judoka. He represents India on the international stage in judo competitions. Avtar made headlines by becoming the first Indian judoka to qualify for the Olympics in 12 years, participating in the 2016 Rio Olympics. His journey from a small town to the global arena inspired many. Avtar's dedication and hard work in judo earned him accolades and admiration. • Gold Medalist in 90 Kg category at South Asian Games in 2016, held in Guwahati
• Avtar Singh is the only Indian male player to qualify for the Rio Olympics in 2016.The same year, he reached his career highest world ranking of 79
• He also represented India at the Commonwealth Games of 2014 which was held in Glasgow
• In 2011, Avtar Singh won bronze medal at the Asian Junior Judo Championship
