Born on 18th January 1978, Aparna Popat is a former Indian badminton player who is regarded as one of the most successful badminton players. She has won the national championship nine times in between 1997-2006.
Her achievements:-
- Silver medalist in Women’s Singles at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and a gold medal at the Asian Satellite tournament
- Bronze Medalist in Women’s Singles at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and also represented India at the Uber Cup
- Secured bronze in a mixed team event at the 2006 Commonwealth Games
- Recipient of Arjuna Award in 2005
