Wasim Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer, born on February 16, 1978, in Mumbai, India, is a former cricketer celebrated for his impressive batting skills. As a right-handed opening batsman, he played a key role in Indian cricket, notably accumulating over 5,000 runs in Test matches. • Scored 11,000+ runs in his Ranji Trophy career till now and became the first batsman of the tournament to do so.
• With his 146th appearance in the Ranji Trophy tournament, Wasim became the most capped player in the history of the tournament, surpassing the record of Devendra Bundela (145).
• Made a triple century in his first-class second match and scored 459 runs partnering with Sulakshan Kulkarni.
• Scored five Test centuries including two double-centuries that he scored against the teams of Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, West Indies and England. During his Test series against the West Indies in 2006; He scored 212 runs in over 500 minutes in the second innings that was recorded as the second-highest by an Indian batsman in the Caribbean.
• Performed for Ainsdale CC in the LDCC league season 2013 where he scored multiple centuries with an amazing strike rate of 97.93 and aided the team with an unbeaten 153
• With his sheer performance in the third round of the Ranji Trophy season 2018-19; Wasim reached the 11,000 career run mark and became the first Ranji batsman to do so. He also emerged out as the leading run-scorer of Vidarbha team in the group stage matches of the same season with 763 runs. In the quarter-final of the tournament, he scored his 19,000th run of first-class cricket.
