Born on 25th July 1995 in Punjab, Varun Kumar is an Indian professional field hockey player who plays at the defender position in the national team as well as Punjab Warriors of Hockey India League.
Achievements:
- Represented his state at the Junior National Championship in 2012.
- Played astoundingly well at the Junior National Championship of 2014 and was called for the junior national team.
- Won a gold medal along with his team at the 2015 Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup.
- Member of the gold medal winning team of the 2016 FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup, held in Lucknow.
- Bagged a gold medal along with his team at the ASHF Asia Cup tournament of 2017, held in Dhaka.
- Part of the team that won a silver medal at the Hockey Champions Trophy of 2018, held in Breda.
- Member of the team that won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games, held in Jakarta.
