Tirunesh Dibaba

Born on 1^st June 1985, in Bekoji, Ethiopia, Tirunesh Dibaba Kenene is a prominent long distance runner who has set a world record in 5000m event and a winner of five World Championships. Trunesh is an elder sister of Genzebe Dibaba along with whom she holds concurrent world records.

Her Achievements:-

• Two gold medals in 5000m and 10,000m events at the Beijing Olympics in 2008
• One gold medal in 10,000m event at the London Olympics in 2012
• Two gold medals in 5000m and 10,000m events at the World Championship of 2005, held in Helsinki
• Five gold medals at the World Cross-country Championships of 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008 in various events
• Two gold medals in 10,000m event at the African championships of 2008 and 2010, held in Addis Ababa and Nairobi respectively
• Entitled as Athlete of the Year in 2008 by "Track and Field News" sports magazine
• Also received the award for Female Performance of the Year by IAAF in 2005 and 2008
