Steve Waugh is a former cricketer who is regarded as one of the most prominent right-handed batsmen and medium pace bowlers of Australian cricket team. He was born on 2nd June 1965, in Sydney, Australia.
His achievements:-
- The most capped Test cricket player in the history, from 1999 to 2004, he captained the Australian Test cricket team.
- The Australian team has won 41 matches out of 57 in Test and 67 matches out of 106 in ODI under his leadership.
- Won the “Australian of the Year” award in 2004 and has also been included in the "Australian Living Treasures" for his commendable contribution to the Australian society
- Made an Australian record partnership in the 1996 Cricket World Cup, Waugh scored 82 and featured in a 207-run partnership against Kenya with his brother Mark Waugh.
- Nicknamed the ‘Iceman’ for his performance in 1987 World Cup
- Awarded with the Australian Sports Medal in 2000
- In 2009, Steve became the 30th cricketer to be inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
