Sharath Gayakwad

Sharath Gayakwad, born on May 10, 1991, in Bangalore, India, is a talented Indian para-swimmer. Gayakwad overcame challenges from a young age, displaying a remarkable determination to excel in swimming despite his disability. His journey in para-swimming began with local competitions, where he quickly gained attention for his exceptional talent. Gayakwad represented India in multiple Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Para Games, winning numerous medals. His resilience and dedication to the sport have inspired many, earning him admiration both within India and internationally. Gayakwad continues to serve as a role model for aspiring para-athletes, demonstrating that with determination, anything is possible.

 His Achievements:-

• Two gold medals, four silver medals, and a bronze medal at the 2009 IWAS World Games, held in Bangalore
• Bronze medal at the Asian Para Games of 2010, held in Guangzhou
• Ranked as World No. 13 in 100 m Breaststroke, in 2010
• At the International Deutsche Meisterschaften (IDM) Swimming Championship of 2011 which was held in Germany, he bagged two bronze medals and a silver medal.
• Bagged one silver medal and four bronze medals at the 2014 Asian Games, held in Incheon
• Asian record holder in 50 m Butterfly and 50 m Breaststroke
