Poonam Yadav

Born on 24 August 1991, Poonam Yadav is an Indian cricketer who currently plays for the Indian women's cricket team. Since making her debut for India in the 2013–14 season, Poonam has been a powerful wicket-taker. She has represented many teams in domestic cricket including Uttar Pradesh, Central Zone and Railways. She is currently the most successful T20I bowler for India. She has courage and temperament both, the two important qualities for a leg spinner. The speed with which she bowls further complicates things for batsmen as the ball never comes off perfectly to shot. Her main role in the team is of a bowler and her bowling style is the legbreak googly.

Some of her major career achievements:

• She made her T20I and ODI debut in 2013 and her Test debut in 2014.
• She was part of the Indian team reaching the final of the 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup but lost to England by 9 runs.
• Entered the top 5 of the women's T20I rankings and obtained the 3rd spot on the list in June 2018.
• The only front-line bowler who has appeared in every T20I match for India in 2018.
• With 8 dismissals in 5 matches in the 2018 ICC Women's World Twenty20 tournament, Poonam was the joint-leading wicket-taker for India.
• In September 2018, she became India's highest wicket-taker in Twenty20 Internationals with 57 wickets from 39 T20Is and surpassed Jhulan Goswami's tally of 56 wickets.
• She was also the part of India's squad for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
