Pete Sampras

Born on 12^th August 1971, Petros "Pete" Sampras is a famous tennis player from America. He is the World No. 1 player considered as one of the greatest tennis players in the history of the game.

His achievements are:-

• He has won 12 Grand Slam singles and became the first player who broke Roy Emerson’s pre Open-Era record.
• Sampras has won 2 Grand Slam Cups and five ATP World Tour Finals.
• In 1994, Sampras won the first two titles of the Australian Open.
• Between 1997 to 2000, Sampras won four consecutive Wimbledon titles, the second tennis player only behind Björn Borg and Roger Federer who have five consecutive titles each.
• He is the only player to win the Grand Slam Cup and the ATP World Tour Championship within the same year.
• Pete was selected as the ATP Player of the Year six times in the years 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998.
• He is the only player to win all seven Wimbledon finals. Most finals were won in a single Grand Slam tournament without a loss, he is third in the Open Era behind Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
