Mikio Oda

Mikio Oda was born on 30th March 1905. He was a prominent athlete and the first Olympic gold medalist from Japan. He was also the first Olympic champion in an individual event, from Asia.

His Achievements:-

• Bagged two gold medals in the triple jump and Long jump and one bronze medal in High jump at the Far Eastern Championship Games, held in Osaka in 1923.
• Won the gold medal in triple jump at the 1925 Far Eastern Championships games, held in Manila.
• Roped in three gold medals in the Triple jump, long jump and decathlon at the 1927 Far Eastern Championship Games, held in Shanghai.
• Bagged a gold medal at the 1928 Olympic Games, held in Amsterdam.
• Captured a gold medal in triple jump and two silver medals in long jump and pole vault at the 1930 Far Eastern Championship Games, held in Tokyo, Japan.
