Manjit Singh Chahal

Born on 1st September 1989 in Haryana; Manjit Singh Chahal is an Indian middle-distance runner who shot to fame by clinching a gold medal for the nation in 800m run at the Asian Games of 2018 after 36 years. Manjit sought inspiration from his father to become a middle-distance runner.

Achievements:

• Finished fourth in men's 800m final at the Asian Athletics Championship of 2013 with a timing of 1:49.70 min.
• Bagged a gold medal in 800m event at the 2018 Asian Games, held in Jakarta.
• Competed at the Patiala Federation Cup 2018 where he bettered his personal timing in 1500 m event to 3:42.24 and qualified for 1500m in the 2018 Asian Games.
• Obtained 4^th position at the 2014 Asian Athletics Championships (Final) in 800m clocking 1:49.70 min.
