Katie Ledecky

Five-time Olympic gold medalist and nine-time World Champion, Kathleen Genevieve "Katie" Ledecky is an American competitive swimmer. She was born on 17th March 1997 in Washington D.C. This young girl has earned copious medals and rewards in her sport in a very short span of time.

• She is the current world-record holder in the women’s 400, 800, and 1,500-meter freestyle (long course)
• Holds records for the fastest-ever times in the women’s 500, 1000, and 1,650- yard freestyle events
• She is the most decorated female athlete of the 2016 Rio Olympics with four gold, one silver, and two world records to her name
• Bestowed with the title of Swimming World magazine's 'World Swimmer of the Year' and the 'American Swimmer of the Year' awards in a row from 2013 to 2016
• Bestowed with SwimSwam’s Swammy award for the female 'Swimmer of the Year' in 2014
• Also named as the international female Champion of Champions by L'Équipe in the year 2014
• The United States Olympic Committee named her the 'Female Athlete of the Year' in 2016
