Born on 9th March 1989 in Hamgyong, Hong Un-jong is the first North Korean female artistic gymnast who won a medal at the Olympics (2008).
Here are some of her career achievements:
- Gold, silver and bronze medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships of the year 2014, 2015 and 2013, respectively
- Gold and silver medal in the Vault and Team event of the Asian Games in the year 2014
- Gold and bronze medal in Vault and Uneven Bars event of the Summer Universiade of the year 2009 that convened in Belgrade
- At the Asian Gymnastics Championships of the year 2012, Hong secured silver medals in Vault and Team events.
- Gold medal in the Vault and bronze medal in the Team event of the East Asian Games, held in the year 2013 in Tianjin
