Elena Vesnina

Born on 1^st August 1986, in Ukraine SSR, Soviet Union, Elena Sergeyevna Vesnina is a prominent Russian Tennis player who has been ranked 13th in Singles (in 2017) and 3rd in Doubles (in 2014) in the world ranking. She has won the Grand Slam doubles title three times in the years 2013, 2014 and 2017.

A brief account of her achievements is given here:-

• Bagged a gold medal in doubles and mixed doubles at the 2013 Summer Universiade, held in Kazan.
• Dominated the doubles event of the Summer Olympics of 2016, held in Rio de Janiero along with her partner Ekaterina Makarova
• Twice won the Fed Cup (a premier international team competition in women's tennis) in a row in the years 2007 and 2008.
• Won the mixed doubles event of Australian Open in 2016.
• Emerged victorious at the 2013 French Open Women's Doubles with her partner Ekaterina Makarova.
• Elena gained her second Grand Slam Doubles title with Ekaterina Makarova by defeating Martina Hingis and Flavia Pennetta in the final of 2014 U.S. Open with the scores 2–6, 6–3, 6–2.
