Deepak Lokendrasingh Chahar

Deepak Chahar is a Right-Arm Medium Bowler from Agra, Uttar Pradesh. After a brilliant performance in the 2018 Syed Mushtaq-Ali Trophy, he was selected by the Chennai franchise for the Indian Premier League. He was included in the India A team for the tri-series against West Indies A and England Lions due to his commendable performance in the IPL. Deepak concluded as the highest wicket-taker in that series and later proved his mettle. His hard work paid off when the international call came in 2018 after Jasprit Bumrah was injured. He made his T20I debut against England on 8 July 2018. Deepak was then selected in the T20I squad for the 2019 tour of the West Indies. During India's tour of Bangladesh in 2019, Chahar showed superb form in the T20I decider match in Nagpur where he became the first Indian male bowler to take a hat-trick in T20I format and also finished with extraordinary bowling figures of 3.2-0-7-6. This is the best figures by any bowler in the T20I format.

Major Achievements -

• Deepak picked up the 8/10 mark in the first match of the 2010–11 Ranji Trophy season against Hyderabad in Jaipur. Chahar's superb swing bowling soon earned him a youth contract with Rajasthan Royals.
• On 8 July 2018, he made his debut in T20I for India. In his first match against England, he dismissed Jason Roy. He was also the second bowler after Siddharth Kaul to debut in this tour of UK.
• In January 2018, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2018 auction.
• Deepak made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India against Afghanistan during the 2018 Asia Cup on 25 September 2018.
• In October 2018, he was named in the India B team for the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy.
• He was selected in the T20 squad for India against West Indies in July 2019. He played against the West Indies in the final match of the series and won the Player of the Match award for the figure of 3/4 on 3 August 2019.
• He played a crucial role in winning the series against Bangladesh in the final match. He took the best bowling figures in T20I, taking six wickets for seven runs in 3.2 overs. He took the first hat-trick by a bowler for India and his first five wickets in T20Is, which led him to win the Player of the Match award for the 3rd decider match and also he won the Player of the Series award.
• In January 2020, Chahar was awarded the T20I Performance of the Year by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for taking six wickets for seven runs against Bangladesh.
