Darlan Romani is a track and field athlete specializing in Shot Put. He is the first Brazilian in 80 years to qualify in Shot put after Antonio Pereira Lira (Brazilian Shot putter) who qualified in the 1936, Berlin Summer Olympic Games. His father is Moacir Romani and his mother is Ivanir Romani.
Darlan Romani holds the Brazilian Shot Put record since 2012. At the end of 2018, Darlan won the trophy for the Best Athlete in Athletics at the Brazil Olympic Award and finished 5th in the world ranking of Shot Put in 2018. He is also a record holder in the 2018 Ibero-American Championship in Athletics with a throw of 20.74 m (68.04 ft.) which is the highest in the history of Shot Put event.
Darlan stood 4th (22.61 m throw) in 2019 World Championships held at Doha, Qatar and was the champion of the 2019 Pan American Games. He also finished 4th in the 2020 Olympic Games.
In March, Romani achieved the biggest feat of his career by becoming the 2022 World Champion (22.53 m) at World Athletics Indoor Championships held at Belgrade, Serbia.
