Chetan Anand

Chetan Anand Buradagunta was born on 8th July 1980; Vijayawada is a prominent Indian badminton player who has earned many accolades in national and international events by his intelligent court techniques and energetic shots. He won his first singles title in Chennai in a junior major ranking tournament. In addition, he signed as the first brand ambassador for promoting Li Ning sporting goods in India in 2009. Currently, he is an ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Commission) employee as a senior executive engineer. 

His Achievements:-

1. In 1999, he became the Junior National Champion.
2. Chetan won his first Asian Satellite tournament in Bangalore in 2001, which was a beginning in series; later on, he won 15 major ranking tournaments in India.
3. After his victory in the 2004 Le Volant d'Or in France, he became internationally recognised.
4. He won the National Badminton Championship four times: 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2010.
5. He bagged the South Asian Games Men's Singles Championship in 2004, 2006, and 2010.
6. Chetan, won the Irish & Scottish Open Badminton tournament in Ireland and Scotland in 2005.
7. He received the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2006.
8. In 2008, he won his first Grand Prix title in the Bitburger Open & was the first Indian to win a Grand Prix.
9. He was also a runner up in the Dutch Grand Prix in 2008.
10. In 2009, Chetan won two titles; The Dutch Open Grand Prix & the Jaypee Syed Modi Memorial Grand Prix in Lucknow.
11. In 2009, Chetan bagged the 10th position in the world ranking, which was his career-best.
12. Chetan won his third Commonwealth Games in 2010 with a silver medal in the mixed team event.
13. In 2014, Chetan decided to set up the 'Chetan Anand Badminton Academy' to be still involved with the sport, and he has also served as coach of the Indian badminton team.
