Brian Lara

Brian Lara is a former international cricketer from Trinidad and Tobago, widely recognized as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He topped the Test batting ranking several times and has several cricket records, including the highest individual scoring record in first-class cricket, with 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham in Edgbaston in 1994, which is the only quintuple century in first-class cricket history.

• Brian is the only batsman in the cricket history to set a record of the highest individual score in test matches twice in his active career.
• He is included amongst the best batsmen in the test matches.
• In the year 1993, against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground, he scored 277 runs which is recognized as the fourth-highest Maiden Test Century ever.
• In the year 1999, at Barbados, his match-winning enactment of 153 runs against Australia has been recorded as the 2nd best batting in the Test Cricket History.
• Brain Lara holds highest individual run-scorer in Test Cricket; he thrashed the England bowlers to corners of the field & scored 400 runs at Antigua in 2004.
• The first batsman to score 7 centuries in 8 first-class innings
• Scored the most no. of centuries as a West Indian
• Nine of his centuries are double centuries (only surpassed by Kumar Sangakkara and Don Bradman)
• He has scored centuries against all the nations that play Tests
• Scored most runs (351 runs) playing for a losing side in a Test match
• Holds the world record of scoring most runs (28 runs) in a single over in the Test cricket (against RJ Peterson of South Africa)
• Honoured with the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Overseas Personality Award in 1994.
• Chosen as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1995
• In the "World's Scariest Batsman" poll of international bowlers, he was voted as the 2nd scariest batsman.
