The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is a historic sporting venue located in Moore Park, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Its origins date back to the 1850s, when British soldiers established a cricket ground known as the Garrison Ground near Victoria Barracks. Over time, the venue developed into one of Australia's important sporting facilities and became widely associated with cricket. It also hosts other sports, including rugby league, rugby union and Australian rules football. The ground has several grandstands and spectator facilities designed to accommodate large crowds. Today, the venue is managed by Venues NSW, following the merger of the former Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust into the organisation. Visitors can book guided tours that offer access to selected behind-the-scenes areas, including players' dressing rooms, the historic Members Reserve, the Walk of Honour and the SCG Museum.

The first ever rugby league match was played at the Sydney Cricket ground on 22nd June 1911.
Significance
It also hosted the Rugby League World Cup final in 1968 in which Australia won by 20-2 against France.
It has hosted the Rugby football league’s World Cup challenge in 1976.
It is the home ground of Sydney Swans (Australian Rules football team) since 1982.
The first international Test match was played between Australia and England at this ground on 21st February 1882.
From 1908 to 1987, the stadium hosted the New South Wales Rugby League premiership grand final until the venue was shifted to Sydney Football Stadium in 1988.
On 11th December 1926, Archie Jackson became the youngest Australian first-class cricketer to score a debut century at SCG.
The SCG has been serving as the home ground of the New South Wales Blues cricket team since 1878.
