The Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney, Australia was established in 1848. It was formerly known as the Garrison Ground and has been operated and owned by the Sydney Cricket ground trust. The ground is located at Moore Park and famous for hosting cricket matches. With seven stands on the ground, it gives perfect view to everyone to watch the action on the field. Apart from cricket, there are many other sports that are played at the SCG such as football codes, biking, and cycling sports. People can take a tour to the dressing rooms, Walk of Honor, Historic member’s reserve, SCG Museum at the SCG during weekdays.

Trivia

The first ever rugby league match was played at the Sydney Cricket ground on 22nd June 1911.

Significance

It also hosted the Rugby League World Cup final in 1968 in which Australia won by 20-2 against France.
It has hosted the Rugby football league’s World Cup challenge in 1976.
It is the home ground of Sydney Swans (Australian Rules football team) since 1982.
The first international Test match was played between Australia and England at this ground on 21st February 1882.
From 1908 to 1987, the stadium hosted the New South Wales Rugby League premiership grand final until the venue was shifted to Sydney Football Stadium in 1988.
On 11th December 1926, Archie Jackson became the youngest Australian first-class cricketer to score a debut century at SCG.
The SCG has been serving as the home ground of the New South Wales Blues cricket team since 1878.
