Bob Beamon

Robert "Bob" Beamon, born on 29^th August 1946, in South Jamaica, is a former track and field athlete, famous for his world record in the long jump at the Mexico Olympics in 1968.

Accomplishments:-

• Bagged a silver medal in long jump in Pan American Games in 1967, held in Winnipeg.
• Won a gold medal for long jump in 1968 Olympic Games, held in Mexico City.
• Awarded Men’s Long Jump Best Year Performance in 1968.
• The Track & Field News Magazine entitled him as the "Track & Field Athlete of the Year" in 1968.
• Enlisted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1977.
• Inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame in the year 1983.
• Sports Illustrated magazine chose Bob’s world record jump as one of the five greatest sports moments that happened in the 20th century.
