Aksel Lund Svindal

Born on 26 December 1982, Aksel Lund Svindal is an alpine ski racer from Kjeller, Norway. He won the Olympic gold in downhill at the 2018 Winter Olympics and became the oldest -ever Alpine skiing gold medalist.

His Achievements:-

• One gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the 2002 Junior World Ski Championships held at Tarvisio.
• A silver medal in the combined event at the 2005 World Championships, held at Bormio
• Two gold medals in Downhill and Giant Slalom events at the 2007 World Championships, held at Are
• Gold medal at the 2009 World Championships, held at Val-d'lsere
• One gold, one silver and one bronze at the 2010 Olympic Games, held in Vancouver.
• Gold medal at the 2011 World Championships, held at Garmisch
• Bagged a gold and a bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships, held at Schladming.
• Became the first male alpine racer to win titles in four consecutive World Championships.
• Svindal had a very strong start in the 2016 season after his previous season-long injury. He gained seven world cup victories before suffering a knee injury that ended the season in difficult conditions in Kitzbühel, Austria.
• In his final race, the downhill in the 2019 Alpine Ski World Championship in February of that year, Svindal finished second in a Norwegian one-two, being overtaken in gold by his teammate Kjetil Jansrud by a margin of two-hundredths of a second.
