The Carrara Stadium, commercially known as Metricon Stadium is one of the well-known sports venues, located in Queensland, Australia in the suburb of Carrara. It is mainly used for Australian rules football. The construction of the stadium began in 1986 and took a year to complete. The Government of Queensland owns the stadium. The stadium had no naming rights sponsor in its formative decades. On 15th March 2011, home builder group Metricon signed a $3 million, 5-year deal for the naming rights of the Carrera Stadium to be named as the Metricon Stadium. it held the stadium's naming rights from 2011, with its agreement extended through 2022. In February 2023, the stadium was renamed Heritage Bank Stadium under a naming-rights agreement. After Heritage Bank merged with People's Choice Credit Union, the stadium was renamed People First Stadium in March 2024. The stadium has a capacity of 25,000 since 2011 which can be increased with around 15,000 temporary seats.
In 2018, Carrara Stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics events at the Commonwealth Games. The stadium is also used for cricket, including Big Bash League matches. Under current Brisbane 2032 planning, it could host cricket if T20 cricket is included in the Games. The venue also hosts concerts and other special events. Carrara Stadium is the home ground of the Gold Coast Suns, an Australian Football League (AFL) club. It also hosts junior championships and QAFL matches.
