The White City Stadium was a multi-sports arena specifically built in 1907 to host the 1908 Summer Olympics. It served as the finish line of the marathon. The stadium was specifically designed by J. J. Webster, an engineer and the contracting company in 10 months. It has 24 ft. wide running track, 35-foot-wide cycling track, a swimming pool, a diving pool and a speedway track of 380 metres (420 yards) in length.

Trivia

Stade de la Mosson has been selected as one of the venues to host the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup matches.
The stadium has been flooded twice during the heavy rain in Montpellier due to which the home team Montpellier HSC has to relocate for 5 fixtures.

Significance

The stadium was entirely rebuilt to host the FIFA World Cup matches in 1998 and was also used to host the group stage matches of the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
The stadium hosted its first rugby league match on 9th June 2012.
It has also hosted the semi-final match of the 2012–13 Heineken Cup on 27th April 2013 between the rugby union clubs ASM Clermont Auvergne and Munster Rugby.
